These days, there is simply an overabundance of diet plans. If you’re like me, you’re probably overwhelmed by all of the options.
Therefore, the moment you’ve made your choice, and you’re looking to prepare your own tasty meals, sticking to your chosen diet is of paramount importance. Straying from your original chosen plan may very well lead to failure. It’ll probably return you to the drawing board.
Building up a diet-focused recipe library on your computer is a great idea, for this very reason. If you’re going low-calorie, then compile low-calorie recipes. If you’re a low-carber, then you’ll want low-carb recipes.
Pretty basic stuff, right?
I’ve been guilty of hopping from one diet to the next. And when I really think about it, there’s only one reason why…
On sugar-restriction, you crave sugar. On calorie-restriction, you crave high calorie foods. The grass always seems greener on the other side. And let’s tell the truth here. Culinary videos can be pretty damned hard to resist. π
Sticking to the plan long-term is perhaps the most important component of dieting. While each diet is completely unique in its approach, many say that healthy food and a slight caloric deficit are really all it take to help you reach your goals.
At the end of the day, it makes sense. Don’t pig out all day, steer clear of prepackaged junk, and you should see some pretty powerful results. This becomes even more powerful as you raise your activity levels.
This is surely conventional wisdom. And it probably has that designation for a reason!
But even if your chosen diet isn’t a low-calorie model, you may still be well-served to stick with it long-term. Many diets have more of a macro-nutrient ratio focus. And playing around too much with those may be something to steer clear of.
